Power boat safety video

Before your rental, please watch a short power boat safety video with everyone who might take the helm. It covers starting the engine, docking, reading channel markers and what to do if someone falls overboard.

Rental safety information

  • Everyone under 6 must wear a life jacket while the boat is moving. We recommend life jackets for all kids.
  • Attach the engine cut-off lanyard to the driver whenever the engine is running.
  • Watch for manatee zones and posted idle-speed areas. Fines are steep and the animals are fragile.
  • Stay in marked channels. Charlotte Harbor has wide, shallow flats that can strand a boat at low tide.
  • No alcohol for the driver. Boating under the influence carries the same penalties as on the road.
